my dress is torn, my hair is wild...
So - nevermind dredging, land reclamation, dumping and the other evils currently plaguing Tubli Bay - captain planet has come to the rescue and no more will nylon fishing nets used by fishermen because they are a threat to Bahrain's marine resources.
Of course I welcome any initiative to protect and preserve our natural environment. But I can't help being cynical about this move - which is easy to implement because the only people potentially answerable to are poor fishermen- and it makes the government look like it is doing something.
On the other hand, when you have major contracting companies and business ventures to answer to: the chopping down of all the trees on the Salmaniya roundabout, the killing of thousands of fish and complete disruption of marine life in Tubli Bay, the countless other violations, are not a threat???
