on (more) malicious rumours undermining our 'democracy'
Of course governments will play with people for their own means - but the Bahraini government's latest move really should take the biscuit for foulest-play (for this month anyway- I don't underestimate their future actions).
Apparently, under the humanitarian (which they are well known for) guise (that too) of accepting Iraqi refugees, our already multi-national mercenary forces known as the special security forces (shughub) are seeing an intake of Iraqi Sunnis.
Traditionally the special security forces in Bahrain are non-Bahraini and recruited from Jordan,Yemen and Balochis from Pakistan as ''loyalists' to the Sunni regime and to oppress the Shia majority through force (how many old women in villages elsewhere in the world have the know-how to hand out onions and perfume soaked rags to people who have been tear gassed?) or through the threat of force.
But as usual, before the issue is even taken up by the press (to my knowledge) the government pulls the 'malicious rumours undermining our democracy'' rabbit out their hat. Who is this Habib Toumi guy anyway?
So it seems the book we are actually living by in Bahrain these days is the Bandergate saga. According to Al Bander, the allegedly leaked government report #2 says:
"There are more than 120 thousand Iraqi Sunnis in Jordan, this quantity in facilitating the presence of at least 30 thousand of them in Bahrain.
Despite the rough nature of the Iraqis compared to the Bahrainis, this will help in elevating the temperature (heat) of the Bahraini Sunnis.
Discrimination and persecution facing Iraqi Sunnis since the fall of Saddam, is still virtually undisclosed in all parts of theIslamic world.
Bahrain can use this in its propaganda campaigns, directed internally, to pre-empt the current Shiite schemes."
